On Death of Qassem Soleimani

The death of Qassem Soleimani, Islamic regime of Iran’s number one military commander, has been received with an unheard of jubilation and celebrations in the region, especially in places like Iran, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon, where Islamic regime of Iran’s murderer hands has made their life living hell.

It has however caused some leftists in the West to mourn alongside of criminals such as Assad, Khamenei and Putin. How ironic! Left is traditionally known and identified with defending oppressed people’s rights. Here we witness they are mourning the death of one the most important figure of repression in the MENA region. Islamic regime of Iran very recently killed over 1500 and imprisoned over 7000 street protesters for protesting unbearable living conditions, such as high cost of basic goods, unemployment, imposing Islamic dress code, etc. Islamic regime of Iran has for over 40 years treated women as slaves. It has shot or hung tens of thousands of citizens for having beliefs other than Shia Islam. It has stoned thousands of women for adultery; has hung hundreds of homosexual men; tens of thousands of members of opposition political parties, etc.
One just has to ask why this brutal regime deserves ones support. The answer may be in that regime’s Anti Imperialism’s rhetoric. If “Anti Imperialism” means Anti Americanism, it is anti-American; but why would this deserve anyone’s support that hasn’t lost her/his mind yet?! We know very well that Hitler too, stood up to some Imperialists powers! Putin is another anti-American, but I don’t see any leftist lining up to support him!
Our condemnation of US policies in the region should not lead us to turn a blind eye on Islamic regime of Iran’s 40 years of brutality. Left, one more time, should stand on the right side of the history.
