The Gory Dawn of the Islamic Republic of Iran

The Islamic regime of Iran, as we know it, was born out of a very bloody repression that started on June 20th 1981. From February 11th 1979, the day that revolution defeated the monarchy in Iran, until June 20th 1981, the day that revolution was defeated, the struggle between revolutionary forces and counter-revolutionary Islamic forces continued in all aspects of political and social life in Iran. In every corners of that country; in the factories, in the streets against women that resists Islamism, in Kurdistan that left was stronger than reactionary Islamist forces; in Turkmen Sahra, where leftists groups had helped set up councils all over the region, etc. Islamists started jailing and very shortly after executing political activists, first and foremost from the list of political prisoners in the previous regime’s jails, and continued down to the very people that helped them to consolidate its reactionary power.

The days that followed that bloody day, the Islamists started arresting and beating down women that resisted Islamic dress code, labour activists that helped organise workers to participate in the revolution as well as set up workers’ organizations such as workers’ councils and trade unions. It started arresting thousands of members and sympathisers of non-Islamist political parties. Iranian jails that had been emptied by the revolution in 1979 were filled overnight of political activists and even their relatives!
In the days that followed, revolution was crushed so hard, so many young men and women lost their lives that many people longed for the days that had passed. Hundreds of thousands of people were forced to cross boarders to save their lives. Hundreds of thousands of people started an underground life and assumed fake names and identities.
The anti-imperialist Left led by the USSR, who had done so much to exposing crimes in Chile, Indonesia, Guatemala, Greece, Argentine, South Africa, etc., remained deaf to Iran and turned a blind eye on the crimes of Islamic regime of Iran against revolution. They saw themselves as allies of this bloody regime in its fight against US imperialism!
June 20th 2019, which just passed, marks thirty eight anniversary of a killing spree of tens of thousands of political activists in the hands of a regime that has led the world in terrorism since its consolidation in 1981.
We will not forget memories of those that lost their lives, and will not forgive those who committed those unforgivable crimes!
